Saints Together is the link between St Peter & St Paul Church, Olney and St Mary's Church, Newton . This is an Anglican communion link which has been developed between the two parishes to provide spiritual and practical support, and with the aspiration that there can be a sharing of experiences, hopes and fears. There has existed for some time a very limited link which was undeveloped due to poor communications. Since the visit last October it has been possible to improve the detailing of communications and development of greater understanding of particular needs. Hymn books and other religious study literature has been sent to Newton and there has been exchanges of emails.
An anonymous donor has offered to supply a generator for the church and it is hoped that this will enable the church to expand the opportunities for meetings and community integration and development. A presentation to the church annual meeting is planned, to further inform the church community and seek greater support for the mission work in Newton . It was very evident last October that the Newton church is lively and committed, but suffers along with the rest of the Newton community in the lack of resources.
Like a number of the links we suffer from the difficulties of exchanging information quickly and reliably, but hope that the new technologies appearing in Newton , such as wireless internet access, will assist in improving communications.
