Project Aims

The initial aim of ONL has been to raise money to buy materials for 150 houses which the people of Newton will then build. The approximate cost of a house currently stands at £450.

This is the type of house that the project is funding

Other main aims include:

To develop equal friendships between the people of Olney and Newton and to encourage them to learn about each other and their lives

To find ways in which the people of Olney can help the people of Newton rebuild their town and their lives after the horrors of their recent conflict.

To discover ways in which the people of Olney can learn from the people of Newton

To bring together individuals, organisations and businesses who are willing to donate time, money or expertise to the project

To obtain funds from grants and bursaries

To develop the official link between the town councils of Olney and Newton set up in 2002

To work and pray for lasting peace in Sierra Leone
